OASIS IISETS NEW EVA CHALLENGE SERIES RECORD!Sensing the 15-20 knot northerly wind, Skipper John Kraus ordered a single reef in the mainsail and a partial roll trim to the genoa, for optimal stability, balance and sloop performance. Together with Mate Nita MacCracken, Alternate Mate Barbara Reber and Mate Candidate Paul Bjorkholm, Kraus set a starboard tack course for the EVA Platform, near Seal Beach. Sustained winds carried the crew around EVA and back to Newport harbor entrance in 3 hours 34 minutes, clipping 13 minutes off the three-year old record held by Skipper Robert Dorsky. The 21-mile course provides a perpetual challenge to all OASIS Sailing Club crews.
